Water Lilies

NUPHAR.  (Water Lilies) Unlike the Nymphaea lilies these tolerate slowly moving water and light shade. Also their deep gold cup shaped flowers are held several inches above the water and their seed pods, from which they get their common name, resemble old fashioned brandy bottles. The leaves are more pointed and glistening green .
-    lutea.  The giant of them all! The one for very big ponds  lakes or canals which it has colonised very successfully. Golden flowers two or three inches across.   PD 3 ft.  WB
-    pumila.  Broad pointed leaves, small yellow flowers.  Suitable for smaller bodies of water. PD 2ft.  WD

-  * alba.  Native white Water Lily. Extremely vigorous and only suitable for large lakes. PD to 6 ft.  WA
-  ' Amabilis'.  Medium to small pond with star shaped  clear pink flowers. PD 2ft.  WF
-   'Attraction'. A very popular form with garnet red flowers for the medium to large pond. PD 4ft.  WE
-   'Charles de Meurville'.  Superb large lily with wine purple flowers, for the large pond.  PD 4ft.  WG
-   'Colonel A.J.Welch'.  Upright goblet shaped canary yellow flowers. Larger ponds.  PD 4ft.  WE
-   'Conqueror'.  A good crimson flower. For the medium or larger pond.  PD 2ft.  WG
-   'Escarboucle'.  This is the best crimson flower. For the larger pond.  PD 4 ft.  WH
-    'Fabiola' .  (Mrs Richmond) Pale rose pink darkening with age. Medium to larger pools. PD 2 ½ ft  WD
-   'Froebelii'.   The best red for the smaller pond. Profuse flowering.  PD 2 ft.  WF
-   'Gladstoniana'.  Huge white flowers, suitable only for lakes or the very largest ponds.  PD 6 ft.  WB
-   'Gonnere'.  Globular double white flower. Ideal in the medium sized pool.  PD 2 ½ ft.   WH
-   'James Brydon'.  Double dark dusky pink. A striking lily for the smaller or medium pond.  PD 2 ft.  WG
-   ' Marliacea Albida'. White flower with sepals sometimes flushed pink. Large pools only. PD 3 ft.   WC
-    'Marliacea Carnea' .   Flesh pink flowers, very vigorous, large pools and lakes. PD 5ft.  WB
-    'Marliacea Chromatella'.  Primrose yellow.  Pretty green leaves mottled with bronze PD 2 ½ft       WF
-    'Masianello'.  Rose pink cup shaped flowers, for the medium to large pond.   PD 3 ft.  WD
-    odorata.  Fragrant white pointed flower, best in medium ponds.  PD 2 ½ ft.  WB                               
       -    odorata minor.  Fragrant white miniature for small ponds.  PD 1 ft.  WF
       -    'Odorata Sulphurea' . Canary yellow flower. For the smaller or medium pool. PD 1 ½ ft.  WG
-   'W.B.Shaw'.  Creamy pink flower, for the smaller or medium pond. PD 2 ft.  WG
-   'Pygmaea Helvola'.  Miniature yellow with bronze blotched leaves. Small pools and tubs. PD 1 ft.  WF
-    Pygmaea rubis'.  Miniature red flower, ideal for tubs and the smaller pond. PD 1 ft.  WG
-   tetragona.  Miniature white, an enchanting elf! A delight in tubs, pots and tiny pools. PD 1 ft.  WG
-   tuberosa 'Richardsonii'.  Cup shaped white with apple green sepals. Medium to large ponds. PD 3ft.  WC

NYMPHOIDES.
-    *peltata.  (Water Fringe) This is really only suitable for very large lakes as although it's leaf and flower are small it is a rampant grower and will cover a huge area in one Summer. The roots form a tangled mass that strangles most other plants! Tiny circular green leaves and small yellow fringed flowers. PD 1 ½ ft.  C
